Our mission is crime prevention
"He who does not prevent a crime when he can, encourages it." Roman philosopher, mid-1st century AD
All of us at Sentinel Consulting Group have spent a large portion of our lives responding to crime, helping others avoid it and aiding families, friends, taxpayers and corporations cope with the ramifications of crime. We believe that crime can be lessened or prevented through education, situational awareness and target hardening.
Crime is commonly theorized as a formula that is seen below:

An incident requires that the criminal have the desire to commit the act, the opportunity made present and the skill to carry it out. As demonstrated by the overlapping circles, each of these is critical to the end result and therefore reducing or eliminating one can dramatically affect the risk.
Our focus is on opportunity, for we cannot typically control for a person's desire or skill. We know that drug, financial or other personal problems can affect one's desire to commit a crime and unless we can provide some intervention in these areas, we cannot change that element of the formula.
Skill is an area of controversy, in that our criminal justice system continues to send less-hardened criminals to prison where they learn the skills necessary to commit more serious crimes. Regardless of your beliefs on this issue, we are limited by our ability to affect this element also.
However, we can greatly affect the opportunity. By being more aware of our surroundings, taking the necessary steps to limit our attractiveness to criminals and hardening the targets pursued by criminals, we will in turn reduce the risk of becoming a victim.
With over 80+ years of security, law enforcement, disaster response planning and security technology, Sentinel Consulting Group is well equipped to assist in your security consulting, technology procurement and related risk mitigation needs. Contact Sentinel Consulting Group today to learn more.
