The cost of crime is staggering, and it does pay for the criminal.  In 2007, there were 17.5 million property crimes and 5.2 million violent crimes committed, according to a study conducted by the US Bureau of Justice Statistics.  And typically only 1/2 of violent crimes and 1/3 of property crimes are even reported to police.

None of these statistics take into account ID theft, fraud and similar crimes.  So, it is no surprise that a large portion of our services are geared towards corporate entities. Workplace violence alone accounts for nearly 1.7 million assaults and 900 homicides a year, with the costs of loss productivity, healthcare and workers compensation crippling companies in an already volatile economy.

Security tends to be often overlooked in corporate planning, but the costs of implementing is far less than the loss suffered as a result of crime affecting the business.  Embezzlement prevention, training to identify workplace violence signs and other services are a necessary expense to combat these vulnerabilities.
